Project Description

Joelle Feldman

Born and raised in Normandy, France, Joelle L. Feldman has made New England her home since 1981. Joelle’s lifelong artistic journey continued as a hobbyist until she left a corporate career in 2015 to dedicate herself to painting. She painted for many years in watercolor and oil until she discovered pastels, which have become her medium of choice. Although primarily self-taught, Joelle has learned from and studied with many of the best New England and National Master Pastelists.

Light, alignment, vibrant color and simplicity define Joelle’s work as she explores the intensity of light and saturation of color in a full range of subjects including landscapes, florals, still lifes, and the occasional figure.

An award-winning artist and dedicated painting instructor, Joelle’s work has been accepted in International and US National Juried Shows and Art Associations. Her work is represented by galleries in Maine and Massachusetts.

I am a representational painter who responds to my immediate environment, a place and a moment in time that feeds my soul and inspire my art. I find great joy in a full range of subjects sharing an intensity of light and saturation of color: From the intense, sun-permeated colors of Provence to the moist blue-green values of my native Normandy and my New England home, I discover the vibrancy, subtleties and shadows that nature may offer at a given moment. I also delight in the form, texture and color found in everyday objects.

My work is always evolving as I explore new techniques and materials and discover new ways to experiment with the pastel medium, watercolors and oils.
