Project Description
Diane Dahlke
Diane Dahlke has shown her paintings nationally and is in many private and public collections.
Raised in Connecticut, she has lived in Maine since 1984. She received her BFA from Syracuse University, where she majored in painting. Her MFA is from Vermont College in Montpelier, VT.
An important part of Diane’s art practice has been teaching. Since 2000, Diane has taught painting through the Continuing Studies Department of MECA. She has been the instructor for The Painting Retreat program in LaNapoule, France and currently teaches through Zoom.
“I’m always looking for moments of beauty. I see beauty as something that attracts people and draws them in, but at the same time has undercurrents of mortality. It is fleeting and part of the constant change around us.”
My paintings are influenced by the Dutch 17th century vanitas tradition, which celebrates the loveliness of life, but also reminds us of its evanescence.
